Bonswick Beach and Beach 179 are located 1 km south of San Remo. The road due south of the post office terminates at Bonswick. Both beaches are backed by 20 to 30 m high bluffs, with a foreshore reserve between the bluffs and the road. The beaches face west, receive low waves averaging less than 0.5 m, and are both narrow with a narrow, continuous bar and some rocks in the surf.
