Eurong beach (FR8F) runs for 8 km from One Tree Rocks to Eurong, the largest settlement on the island, south to First Creek where the scarped dunes become vegetated as they are fronted by a low, widening foredune plain. Eurong represents the southern end of the continuous, straight, high energy section of the beach, with persistent rips all the way to Indian Head. The settlement includes a beach resort, ranger station and holiday cabins and homes. It is nestled in the lower dunes along a 1 km section of beach. The dunes, that rise to over 100 m inland, contain five perched lakes - Jennings, Birrabeen, Benaroon, Boemingen and Walameboutha.
